Edinburgh Capitals have signed Canadian defender Taylor Christie for the 2008/09 Elite Ice Hockey League season.
Christie has previously played with the Colorado Avalanche, Dayton Bombbers and Phoenix Roadrunners.
"I know our team will be exciting to watch and that hockey fans in Edinburgh will have a fun and entertaining experience at our games," he said.
"Taylor Christie is going to be a standout defender for us," added director of hockey Doug Christiansen.
"He is going to log a lot of minutes for us this season. Taylor is a good skater who is strong defensively and has the ability to put up big numbers offensively.
"He as been an assistant captain for both Phoenix and Dayton during his professional career. I am looking for him to be a leader from day one. I know the fans in Edinburgh will be pleased with Taylor this season."
As well as playing with the Capitals, Christie will study at Heriot Watt University.
"To be able to experience life in a city like Edinburgh and study at a first class University like Hariot Watt is something that Iżm truly looking forward to," added Christie.
