Soderstrom signs new Blaze deal

Coventry Blaze have agreed a new one-year deal with Swedish defenceman Matt Soderstrom.

The 31-year-old re-signed for Blaze last year and helped the club win the Elite League and British Knockout Cup.

Head coach Paul Thompson told BBC Coventry & Warwickshire: "I'm thrilled he's back with us for another season.

"He never lets you down. He's one of those guys in all sports that a lot of people don't notice and that's because he's doing the right thing."

Soderstrom has notched up six seasons with Blaze and lies fifth on the club's all-time appearance list.

Last season the Swede picked up the clubman and most improved player awards.

"He was an unsung hero for us and has a phenomenal winning attitude. Winning means everything to him. This club means everything to him," added Thompson.
