Newcastle Vipers did their play-off hopes no harm at all with a home weekend double against Manchester Phoenix and Basingstoke Bison.
Saturday's visit of Manchester was tight as the Vipers recovered from conceding early to grind out a 4-3 win.
Sunday saw a weakened Basingstoke routed 7-3 with Derek Campbell and Ben Storey grabbing a brace apiece.
The only low point was an injury to Ukrainian defenceman Pavel Gomenyuk who will see a specialist this week.
