Cardiff Devils returned to winning ways with a 4-3 win over Newcastle Vipers in a full-blooded game on Sunday.
The result leaves them tied at the top of the Elite League with Coventry Blaze but they now turn their attention to the Challenge Cup semi-final first-leg.
Sheffield Steelers travel to Cardiff Bay for that game on Wednesday.
The Devils' 11-match winning run had come to an end after they lost 5-4 to Coventry Blaze at the Skydome on Saturday night.
The top-of-the-table battle was a classic affair and went all the way to penalty shots.
Goals from Mike Garrow, Jason Silverthorn and Sylvain Deschatelets (2) were not enough to earn the Devils another vital victory.
And in penalty shots Coventry Blaze star Adam Calder's effort proved to be the winning shot.
