Mats Sundin notched his 500th career
NHL goal in dramatic fashion to give Toronto a 5-4 victory over Calgary.
The NHL's all-time leader in overtime goals, Sundin completed a hat-trick in overtime to seal the win.
The Leafs' captain skated over the blue line and drilled a slap shot from above the left faceoff circle over the left shoulder of goalie Miikka Kiprusoff.
"I'm very proud," Sundin said. "It's an achievement not many players have reached and I really appreciate it."
Sundin became the 35th member of the NHL's 500-goal club.
All but 135 of his career tallies have come with the Maple Leafs, for whom he has played since 1994.
