Great Britain 's Mike Ellis goes close against Hungary
|
Great Britain slipped to a 4-3 defeat to Hungary in their opening World Championship game in France on Monday.
The Hungarians led 4-1 early in the third session before late powerplay goals from Jonathan Phillips and Colin Shields gave the Brits late hope.
But Rich Strachan's side eventually fell just short in the Division One Group A match in Amiens.
Britain play hosts France on Tuesday in their second game of the six-team tournament at the Coliseum.
"I'm happy with how we played although disappointed with the result," said Strachan.
"It's a stepping stone for us and we have to learn how to win these type of games."
Strachan was critical of the officiating, though.
"They want the game to be called so tight that we might as well put dresses on the players these days," he said.
Britain will be without defenceman Adam Radmall for the game against France because of ankle ligament damage.
Earlier, favourites Germany were impressive as they swept past newly promoted Israel 11-2.
