Johnson has won twice in six days aboard Am I Blue

Am I Blue, a controversial winner at Hereford last Wednesday, has followed up with a 22-length win at Newton Abbot, this time at odds of 5-6. The novice hurdler had been backed from 25-1 to 5-1 when winning at Hereford with top jockey Richard Johnson a late replacement for Dean Coleman. The British Horseracing Authority's Integrity Serices and Licensing Department is looking into that race. On Monday, Am I Blue was again ridden prominently by Johnson in an easy win. You Can Of Course briefly threatened to make a race of it on the turn for home in the six-runner race over two miles and six furlongs, but Am I Blue, trained by Delyth Thomas, quickly powered clear to win easily. In its notes ahead of the race, The Racing Post noted the four-year-old filly was "seemingly going nowhere for current yard until hosing up over 2m 4f at Hereford last week". The paper added: "She really should follow up here before the handicapper hits her hard."
