Fleeting Spirit backed by trainer Jeremy Noseda

Noseda hails Fleeting Spirit temperament

Last year's July Cup winner Fleeting Spirit has every chance of repeating the feat according to her trainer, Jeremy Noseda.

The five-year-old filly was ridden to victory at Newmarket's feature summer race 12 months ago by Tom Queally.

"She's got a big chance," Noseda told BBC Look East.

"I'm sure she'll run a very good race and will be tough to beat. As long as we get good to faster ground, I'm sure she's going to put up a good show."

Noseda's star performer from his Newmarket-based stable has been lightly raced since she beat Main Aim over the line a year ago.

Concerns over the horse's front ankle joints have led to her receiving special treatment ahead of the six furlong sprint on 9 July.

"We have problems and we pretty much go day-to-day," said Noseda.

Nothing's cast in stone as of yet but to ride her would be good. She's a high-class filly, she's got speed and she's got the ability which counts for a lot

"We put her in the spa and we have to deal with those ankles very carefully.

"It takes a lot of time and management from my staff to keep her in one piece now."

It is still unknown who will ride Fleeting Spirit at Newmarket, with the likes of Frankie Dettori and Ryan Moore putting themselves among the candidates, but Queally is keen to reform last year's partnership.

"Nothing's cast in stone as of yet but to ride her would be good," said Queally.

"She's a high-class filly, she's got speed and she's got the ability which counts for a lot."

"She's got a good chance. If she can improve fitness-wise she goes there with a sporting chance."
