Denman recovering well after fall

Madison Du Berlais

Replay - Totesport Bowl Chase

Denman is back cantering again after sustaining a cut leg in a heavy fall at Aintree in the Totesport Bowl Chase.

The Paul Nicholls-trained 2008 Gold Cup winner came down two out while pushing eventual winner Madison Du Berlais.

"Denman's back cantering and seems in great form. He's a little sore, but if it was in the middle of the season you could run him again," said Nicholls.

"I didn't want to pull the wool over anyone's eyes about how he is, but he really seems fine."

Denman had missed the majority of the season with a heart problem but put in an astounding effort to push stablemate Kauto Star all the way in his defence of the Gold Cup at the Cheltenham Festival.

Nicholls added: "He won't run again this season and he, Kauto Star and the others will be out in a field by the second week of May."
