McCoy is known as one of the most driven men in sport but even now, almost 17 years after his first winner, the will to win still burns strong.
"I'm lucky in that I love and enjoy my job and I love going racing so therefore the hunger and the feeling is exactly the same as when I started," he said.
"To be successful in any sport you really have to enjoy what you are doing because that way it doesn't become a chore or part of work. It becomes something you love doing and therefore it becomes easy.
"If I ride a horse to the best of my ability and do nothing wrong then I am happy whether I win or lose.
"The only time I am not a good loser is when I think I should have done something better or different and wonder would it have worked. That is hard to cope with.
"But I think over time I have become more grown-up about it and a bit more professional and a little bit more realistic."
