Kinane timed Viva Pataca's run to perfection
|
Viva Pataca outran Vengeance of Rain on the home straight to win the £900,000 Queen Elizabeth II Cup in Hong Kong.
Jockey Mick Kinane kept the stallion, owned by Macau casino mogul Stanley Ho, in the pack until late on and then broke away with the post in sight.
Third behind New Zealand-bred Rain of Vengeance in the 2km contest was Japanese star Admire Moon.
Kinane and trainer John Moore had earlier won the Champions Mile with Able One at the Sha Tin Racecourse.
