Tuesday's racing bulletin

Racing

Today's Five Live selection is Folio in the 1635 at Pontefract (all times BST).

Racing today comes from Pontefract, Chepstow and Fontwell.

It is Pontefract's first meeting of the season and the ground is good with some good-to-firm places.

Racing starts at 1420 and the featured race of the day is the High Rise Handicap at 1635.

Mudawin and Folio, winners of the Ebor and November Handicaps respectively, make their seasonal debuts.

Mudawin often needs a run to reach peak fitness so Folio get the vote.

Willie Musson's stable star did not stop improving last season, winning on two occasions. He has an uncomplicated style of running and regular rider Tom Queally should be able to settle just behind the leaders.

Tony McCoy, fresh from his success in yesterday's Irish Grand National, has two rides at Fontwell.

Prime Bere for David Pipe in the 1620 looks his best chance.

Pipe is hoping to be the country's leading trainer in terms of numbers and has another outstanding chance with Helen Wood in the opening race at Fontwell at 1410.

The ground at the course is good to firm.

Chepstow start racing later at 1430 and the ground is good with some good-to-firm places.

Champion trainer Paul Nicholls, who has a big team of horses for Aintree, warms up with Blu Teen in the 1535.

He was slightly disappointing over this course last time but takes a big step up in distance which looks sure to suit.
