Yeats, ridden by Michael Kinane claimed the big race on the third day of Glorious Goodwood, the Goodwood Gold Cup.
The Aidan O'Brien-trained five-year-old was an impressive winner to add the race to the Ascot Gold Cup he won in June.
Elsewhere, last season's Nunthorpe Stakes winner La Cucaracha, ridden by Michael Hills, made up for a disappointing run in the July Cup with victory in the Audi Stakes.

3. Night Prospector (R Hughes) 11-1

John Egan finishes the day on a high when Holbeck Ghyll wins the race previously known as the Charlton Stakes.

1. Cumin (M Hills) 7-2 Jt Fav
2. Perfect Star (P Robinson) 25-1
3. Laureldean Express (R Mullen) 10-1

Michael Hills completes an excellent double for his father Barry with Cumin's comfortable success.
Cumin, who was hampered when finishing down the field at the Chesham Stakes at Royal Ascot, was a class above the rest of the field and powered home to win by seven lengths.
1625 - De Boer Stakes Handicap 7f
1. Dream Theme (R Hughes) 13-2
2. High Curragh (N Callan) 9-1

Richard Hughes gets off the mark at Glorious Goodwood 2006 when Dream Theme holds off High Curragh and Neil Callan to win the De Boer Stakes.
1550 - Ladbrokes.com Stakes Handicap 1m 2f
1. Road to Love (R Hills) 11-4f
2. Desert Realm (Joe Fanning) 16-1
3. Pearly King (Robert Winston) 5-1
4. Familiar Territory (L Dettori) 7-1
16 ran. Dist: 5, 1
Road to Love overcomes a poor draw from wide out in stall two to lead home a Mark Johnston one-two in a new course record.
Richard Hills, whose twin brother Michael won the Audi Stakes on La Cucaracha earlier, had his mount at the head of affairs from early on.
The three-year-old showed no signs of fatigue despite winning at Ascot last Sunday and maintained his dominance throughout with a tough pace.
Stablemate Desert Realm tried briefly to challenge in the home straight but Hills found another gear for a five-length win.
1515 - ABN AMRO Goodwood Cup 2m
1. Yeats (MJ Kinane) 10-11f
2. Geordieland (L Dettori) 16-1
3. Tungsten Strike (Martin Dwyer) 25-1
15 ran. Dist: 5, 3½
Odds-on favourite Yeats left the rest of the field struggling in his wake as he powered to a stylish victory in the Goodwood Cup in a new course record.
Michael Kinane, on board in place of the banned Kieren Fallon, travelled superbly and once Kinane kicked on with two and a half furlongs to go to move alongside Tungsten Strike, there was only going to be one winner.
It was the second big race win for the Ascot Gold Cup victor and also gave trainer Aidan O'Brien his first success in the race while Kinane was celebrating his fourth Goodwood Cup victory.
Geordieland and Frankie Dettori ran on well for second five lengths back while Tungsten Strike hung on for third ahead of the unlucky Sergeant Cecil.
"He's not short of class. It's exciting and a privilege when you get a horse like this and to be able to compete in top-class races."
Winning trainer Aidan O'Brien
"He's probably the best stayer I've ridden.
Winning jockey Michael Kinane
1440 - Audi Stakes 5f
1. La Cucaracha (M Hills) 7-2f
2. Desert Lord (N Callan) 20-1
3. Pivotal Flame (Seb Sanders) 8-1
18 ran. Dist: ¾, 1
Michael Hills brings the well-backed La Cucaracha through from the back of the field late on to win the Audi Stakes.
Hills made a slow start and his mount was well down the field until the final couple of furlongs although she was travelling well.
But Hills rode a patient race and the mare got the gaps at crucial times to come into contention.
She swept past Desert Lord at the right time for the victory for trainer Barry Hills which made up for a disappointing run in the July Cup.
"La Cucaracha hasn't had a hard race. If there was a race tomorrow you could run her again."
BBC Sport analyst Willie Carson
1405 - Lillie Langtry Fillies Stakes 1m 6f
1. Tartouche (Seb Sanders) 7-2
2. Art Eyes (John Egan) 11-2
3. Sirce (Jimmy Quinn) 12-1
10 ran. Dist: nk, hd
Tartouche claimed victory for the second year in a row in the race with an impressive display to win the opener on the third day of the meeting.
Trained close to the Goodwood track by Lady Herries, the five-year-old made all the running and she hung on superbly for victory.
Art Eyes and John Egan moved up to challenge in the home straight but Sanders got the most from his charge to stay ahead of her rivals, including the fast-finishing Sirce, who came through late from the back of the field.
The favourite Scottish Stage struggled on the track and found it difficult to cope with the tricky turn at the top of the hill and faded before the end.
"She is one gutsy filly and I've had so much fun on her."
Winning jockey Seb Sanders
