Tuesday's racing bulletin
The Five Live selection is Autumn Glory in the 1525 at Goodwood (all times BST).

The five-day "Glorious Goodwood" festival gets underway with many punters hoping for far from glorious conditions overhead.

The going is good to soft after a dry night but any further rain on Tuesday will be greeted with joy by connections of Autumn Glory.

Trainer Geoff Wragg has always thought this horse was capable of winning a major prize but felt that soft going was the key to his five-year-old's chances of succeeding at the highest level.

Autumn Glory has already made his mark this season, winning the first ever group race on the all-weather track at Lingfield.

Bearing in mind that Goodwood is one of the great social events of the British summer, it seems somewhat unsporting to be praying for rain, but even if it stays dry, Autumn Glory looks a great bet at around 9-2.

Trainer Mark Johnston has a decent strike rate at this meeting and has a handful of interesting runners, including Brahminy Kite in the 1550 and Swift Sailor in the 1635.

Johnston can also strike at Beverley where the good to firm ground will suit River Lena in the 1435 and Mceldowney in the 1510.

It is the second day of the Galway festival in Ireland. The best bet looks to be Lasquini du Moulin in the 1735
