Motivator set for Azamour clash
Motivator
Motivator has been beaten just once in his career
Derby winner Motivator will tackle the Irish Champion Stakes in September, putting him on course for a showdown with King George winner Azamour.

Motivator lost his unbeaten record to Oratorio in the Eclipse earlier this month but is said to be working well.

"The plan is to go for the Champion Stakes as long as the ground isn't too firm," said Harry Herbert on behalf of owners the Royal Ascot Racing Club.

"I have never seen a horse look better as a physical specimen," he added.

"He is developing before our eyes and by giving him this break we are hopeful of a successful autumn campaign and getting him back to winning ways."

Azamour won the Irish Champion Stakes last year and landed the King George VI and Queen Elizabeth Diamond Stakes in impressive fashion on Saturday.

"Azamour will have everybody quaking in their boots but that is what it is all about - there are no hiding places from these horses," said Herbert.

"Ireland and then on to the Arc is the preferred option but if Ireland didn't take place for us, for whatever reason, we would probably go to the Arc trial at Newbury before the Arc."

The Baileys Irish Champion Stakes takes place at Leopardstown on 10 September.
