Darley would miss some big rides at Goodwood due to the ban
|
Former champion jockey Kevin Darley said he was "extremely disappointed" after failing to overturn a ban which rules him out of Glorious Goodwood.
Darley was given a 10-day suspension, which also means he misses the King George VI and Queen Elizabeth Diamond Stakes, by stewards at Ayr.
The English rider was suspended from 22-31 July for not riding out for third place on Meaningful at Ayr on 11 July.
"I will be quite frank and say I have been made an example of," said Darley.
Speaking after his appeal was rejected by the Jockey Club on Thursday, he added: "My credibility has been put in doubt and they have called me a liar."
Meaningful was beaten a short head for third by Chookie Windsor in the European Breeders Fund Maiden Stakes.

I will miss all Glorious Goodwood, and that is my favourite meeting

The King George VI and Queen Elizabeth Diamond Stakes, which usually takes place at Ascot but will this year be run at Newbury, is on Saturday.
Glorious Goodwood runs from 26-30 July.
The ban also rules Darley out of the ride on Attraction in the Prix d'Astarte at Deauville on 31 July.
