Gamut, ridden by Kieren Fallon, had a comfortable success in the Princess of Wales's Stakes at Newmarket.
The 2-1 shot led from start to finish, seeing off the challenge of Day Flight and Richard Hughes.
The pair pulled away from the rest of the field early on and when Fallon asked for more from his mount, he looked well in control.
He extended his advantage to win by around eight lengths after finishing third in this race two years ago.
The six-year-old could now be aimed at the King George VI and Queen Elizabeth Diamond Stakes at Newbury later this month.
It was a double for Fallon after Ivan Denisovich became the first Irish-trained winner of the Group Two July Stakes.
Fallon brought Aidan O'Brien's juvenile with a late challenge on the outside in the final half-furlong to score in good style.
The 7-2 chance won by two lengths from Northern Empire, with long-time leader Black Charmer just a further short-head away in third.
