Guest and Haigh fined over doping
Trainer Richard Guest

Trainers Richard Guest and Vicky Haigh have been fined 700 and 3,500 respectively after an inquiry into the positive test of Ooh Aah Camara at Royal Ascot.

The Jockey Club's disciplinary panel found both handlers in breach after the horse's urine was found to have phenylbutazone and oxyphenbutazone in her system after finishing seventh in the Albany Stakes at York on 17 June 2005.

Haigh was the filly's trainer until owner Willie McKay switched her to Guest's care 48 hours before the race.

The disciplinary panel found that Haigh had deliberately administered bute to Ooh Aah Camara without therapeutic justification and had failed to inform Guest that the horse had been treated with the drug.

Haigh was fined 1,000 for the first offence and 2,500 for the second.

Guest was found to be in breach of Rule 53, which covers horses running under the influence of banned substances.

Guest said he had no plans to contest the decision.

"I've got the minimum fine and it's just one of those unfortunate things," he said.

"As the licensed trainer I had to be fined, but I felt the panel's sympathy was with me as they gave me the minimum penalty.

"Obviously I made a judgement call in running the filly on the day.

"Had I categorically known she had been given the drug, I definitely would not have run her, but I did not know for certain with all the other factors going on."

Hague, who is not licensed at present, declined to comment.
