Proclamation, ridden by Frankie Dettori, quickened up well in the final stages to claim the Heron Stakes, the day's feature race at Goodwood.
The Jeremy Noseda-trained horse was dropped back in trip and the switch paid dividends in a three-length win.
Coeur Courageux made the running early on but came under pressure from Mogaamer in the final quarter-mile.
But Dettori urged his mount on and he responded superbly, comfortably outpacing the 2-1 favourite Tucker.
Meanwhile, bottom weight Bond Boy swept through late on to claim the Scottish Sprint Cup at Musselburgh.
Under the guidance of Dean Mernagh, the eight-year-old took over in the final 50 yards to land the prestigious prize.
