Tuesday's racing bulletin

The Five Live selection is Kalamkar in the 1345 at Newmarket (all times BST).

Tuesday's racing takes place at Newmarket, Musselburgh and Exeter.

It's the first day of Newmarket's three day Craven meeting, where following a dry night the ground remains good to firm.

Kalamkar is a well-bred colt who is related to the useful Kalanisi.

His trainer Sir Michael Stoute has given him time to mature, and the fact that he holds an entry in the Epsom Derby is an indication as to how highly he is regarded.

Although there is no form to work with, he has been impressing on the gallops and should make a successful racecourse appearance.

The big betting race of the day is the seven-furlong handicap at 1525.

There is not expected to be any draw advantage so it may be worth siding with Oasis Star, who ran well for most of last season and looks progressive.

The ground at Musselburgh is also good to firm despite a small shower of rain overnight.

Mick Channon usually does well in Scotland, and it looks significant that he sends just two to the Scottish track, Cross Time in the 1615 and Linda Green in the 1650.

It's National Hunt racing at Exeter, where the ground is now good on both the hurdles track and the chase course.

Commercial Flyer in the 1625 looks the best bet on the card for the Champion trainer Martin Pipe.
