Weather hits Carlisle meeting
Race horses being exercised in the snow
Snow is forecast around the UK
Monday's race meeting at Carlisle has been abandoned because of freezing conditions at the Cumbria track.

The decision to call it off was confirmed by clerk of the course Johnnie Fenwicke-Clennell following a 1430 GMT inspection on Sunday.

"The going was soft with heavy in places, but now I would say 30% of the track is frozen solid," he said.

"We haven't had any snow, it's just freezing cold and we are due another cold night."

Monday's other UK meetings are on the all-weather tracks at Lingfield Park in Sussex and at Wolverhampton.
