Former champion jockey Kieren Fallon has claimed the first winner of his winter spell in Florida.
The Newmarket-based Irishman guided Cartoonist to victory on the ninth race of the card at Gulfstream Park.
Afterwards, Fallon - who must answer police bail in the UK in April over race-fixing allegations - spoke of his desire to prove himself Stateside.
"The tracks here are beautiful, and the racing here is very tough. It is the place to prove yourself as a rider."
Fallon's spell riding in America has led to speculation he may not return to the UK, where has been champion jockey six times.
He vehemently denies the race-fixing claims, and has been unhappy with British media coverage.
But Fallon has insisted he intends to win back his title from Frankie Dettori in 2005.
