The 2004 Epsom Derby winner North Light has been retired after suffering an injury.
North Light never won again after he followed up victory in the Dante Stakes at York with his Classic triumph.
Trainer Sir Michael Stoute said: "He has been a joy to train and we shall long remember his victories in the Dante Stakes and Epsom Derby."
The son of Danehill only raced seven times but still amassed prize money of more than £1 million.
Stoute said the horse would not run again after sustaining a stress pelvic fracture.
Fallon, who has won the Epsom showpiece three times, said North Light
was his "favourite Derby horse".
After Epsom, North Light finished second to Grey Swallow in the Irish Derby when the fast ground was blamed for his defeat.
He rounded off his three-year-old career with a close fifth behind Bago in the Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe at Longchamp.
On his return in 2005, North Light was a disappointing second to New Morning when odds-on for the Brigadier Gerard Stakes at Sandown Park.
