Injured jockey Richard Johnson must sit out Cheltenham's big meeting at the weekend after X-rays revealed he suffered pelvic damage in a fall.
Johnson will miss the rides on Paddy Power Gold Cup favourite Monkerhostin on Saturday and Rooster Booster in the Greatwood Hurdle the following day.
He was thrown from a novice hurdler in the paddock at Haydock last Thursday.
Johnson, who initially thought he had sustained only minor injuries, hopes to return before the end of November.
"It is just something I have to be patient with and I have to stay on
crutches for the time being," he said.
"I could be back in three weeks if it heals well. I'll aim to be back for the Hennessy meeting at Newbury but this is a sickener for me."
