Barolo ruled out of Melbourne Cup
|
Barolo had already arrived in Australia to prepare for the race
|
British challenger Barolo will not run in the Melbourne Cup next month because of a blood-related problem.
The Peter Harris-trained gelding has been in Australia preparing for the race but had been off his food.
And blood tests revealed an abnormality in his white blood cell count.
The Melbourne Cup, which takes place at Flemington on 2 November, is Australia's most famous race.
Other British hopefuls for the race include Hugs Dancer and Distinction while Ireland's challenge is led by 2002 winner Media Puzzle and Vinnie Roe.
