Irish trainer Aidan O'Brien has decided to enter Powerscourt in the Breeders' Cup Classic, setting up a mouthwatering clash with Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe winner Bago.

The Breeders' Cup meeting, which takes place on 30 October, has been a happy hunting ground for European challengers in the past, although this year there will be a much smaller contingent than before.

Thursday's meetings are at Wolverhampton, Wincanton and Ludlow.

Frankie Dettori and Kieren Fallon have six rides apiece at Wolverhampton and it will be a surprise if either comes home empty-handed.

Fallon looks to have the stronger hand with winning chances aboard Watchmyeyes in the 1350 and Blythe Spirit in the 1650.

Champion jump jockey Tony McCoy has just two rides at Wincanton and only Bowling Green in the 1430 looks to have any chance.

Followers of jockeys travelling to a meeting for just one ride will be keen to back Cheltenham Gold Cup-winning jockey Jim Culloty aboard Polish Legend in the 1700.

Best bet of the day is Bekstar in the 1600.

The mare was withdrawn from a race at Plumpton on Monday because the ground was too soft but conditions at Wincanton look ideal.

Bekstar has not shown much form in recent months but there have been legitimate excuses for her poor form and, despite being the outsider of the six runners, she has a realistic chance.

Champion conditional jockey Jamie Moore makes his comeback at Ludlow following 10 weeks on the sidelines with an injured back.

His mount in the 1510, Alikat, is not without a chance.
