A former policeman, Saeed Bin Suroor took out his first training licence in 1994.
The following year he took over as the main trainer for Godolphin, which had been set up by Sheikh Mohammed a year previously.
Godolphin's unique set-up means the trainer spends half the year at the Al Quoz stables in Dubai and then comes over to Moulton Paddocks in Newmarket for the turf Flat season.
Bin Suroor has been champion trainer three times and has won each Classic at least once.
The nature and size of Godolphin means the outfit has a full-time racing manager, Simon Crisford, and it is he rather than the trainer who is often the public face of the organisation.
As well as his achievements with Godolphin, Bin Suroor also trained the unbeaten Lammtara for Sheikh Mohammed's nephew, Saeed Maktoum Al Maktoum.
In the 1995, the colt won the Derby, the King George VI and Queen Elizabeth Diamond Stakes and the Prix de l'Arc Triomphe - meaning he won three top-notch victories in his only four appearances on a racetrack.
