Racewatch: Breeders' Cup meeting
Domedriver leads Rock of Gibraltar at Arlington
Mick Kinane (red silks) couldn't ride Rock to victory
All the action as it happened from the prestigious Breeders' Cup meeting at Arlington in Chicago (all times BST).

2235 - Breeders' Cup Classic - 1m 2f dirt ($4m)
For three-year-olds and upwards#

1. Volponi (J Santos)
2. Medaglia D'Oro (J Bailey)
3. Milwaukee Brew

Volponi, ridden by Jose Santos, was the surprise winner of the Breeders' Cup Classic after storming home well clear of runner-up Medaglia D'Oro.

Among Volponis's victims were Kentucky Derby and Preakness Stakes winner War Emblem and the highly-regarded Irish raider Hawk Wing.

2155 - Breeders' Cup Turf - 1m 4f turf ($2.4m)
For three-year-olds and upwards

1. High Chaparral (M Kinane)
2. With Anticipation (P Day)
3. Falcon Flight (P Valenzuela)

Epsom and Irish Derby winner High Chaparral, ridden by Mick Kinane, gained some consolation for Aiden O'Brien.

The Irish trainer had met disappointment earlier in the Mile when Rock of Gibraltar was beaten into second place and Landseer fell and had to be destroyed.

High Chaparral took up the running early in the straight and held on to win by 1 lengths well from With Anticipation, the mount of Pat Day, with Falcon Flight in third.

2120 - Breeders' Cup Juvenile - 1m 1f dirt ($1m)
For two-year-old colts and geldings

1. Vindication (M Smith)
2. Kafwain (V Espinoza)
3. Hold That Tiger (K Fallon)

Vindication (9-2), trained by Bob Baffert and ridden by Mike Smith, held off stable companion Kafwain (12-1), the mount of Victor Espinoza.

Baffert also trained the fourth-placed Bull Market, who was just edged out of third by Aidan O'Brien's Hold That Tiger (5-1), trained, ridden by Kieren Fallon.

2045 - Breeders' Cup Filly & Mare Turf - 1m 2f turf ($1.2m)
For filles and mares, three-year-olds and upwards

1. Starine (J Velazquez)
2. Banks Hill (JD Bailey)
3. Islington (K Fallon)

Starine captured the Filly and Mare Turf race, taking a two-length triumph over defending champion Banks Hill.

The bay mare overtook early leader Kazzia, a German-bred Godolphin horse, in the back stretch and jockey Johnny Velazquez pulled the five-year-old ahead of the pack.

The result was a triumph for trainer Bobby Frankel who saddled both Starine and Banks Hill, ridden by Jerry Bailey.

Starine (20-1) had been viewed as the stable second string to Banks Hill (7-2), who won the race in 2001 when trained in France.

The Sir Michael Stoute-trained Islington (4-1), with Kieran Fallon in the saddle, edged out favourite Golden Apples (3-1) for third.

2010 - Breeders' Cup Sprint - 6f dirt ($1m)
For three-year-olds and upwards

1. Orientate (J Bailey)
2. Thunderello (E Prado)
3. Crafty CT (P Valenzuela

Orientate, ridden by Jerry Bailey, won the Breeders' Cup Sprint by half a length from 40-1 outsider Thunderello.

Trained by Wayne Lukas, the 9-4 favourite was second turning into the straight behind pacesetting Thunderello, ridden by Edgar Prado.

After a protracted struggle, Orientate prevailed with Thunderello hanging on to be second in the 13-runner event.

It was the first Cup winner for longtime owners Bob and Beverly Lewis and the 17th for veteran veteran Lukas.

1935 - Breeders' Cup Mile 1m turf ($1m)
For three-year-olds and upwards

1. Domedriver (T Thuilliez)
2. Rock of Gibraltar (M Kinane)
3. Good Journey (P Day)

The French challenger Domedriver, ridden by Thierry Thulliez, put in a superb race to take the Breeders Cup Mile.

Domedriver broke through from the inside in the closing stages as Mick Kinane left himself too much to do with the winning post approaching.

Kinane and Rock of Gibraltar were way off the pace for most of the race and was hampered slightly by stablemate Landseer as he tried to challenge going into the home straight.

Rock of Gibraltar put in a brave sprint over the final stages but Domedriver proved just too fast to win by a neck.

Rock, co-owned by Sir Alex Ferguson, had been bidding for an eighth consecutive Group One win.

1855 - Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies 1m 1f dirt ($1m)
For two-year-old fillies.

1. Storm Flag Flying (J R Velazquez)
2. Composure (ME Smith)
3. Santa Catarina (JD Bailey)

Storm Flag Flying, ridden by Johnny Velazquez, claimed a narrow victory over Mike Smith on Composure to take the Juvenile Fillies

Humorous Lady set the early blistering pace and Santa Catarina takes up the running halfway through.

But in the home straight Storm Flag Flying looked beaten but gained a second wind to overtake Composure in a thrilling finish.

1820 - Breeders' Cup Distaff 1m 1f dirt ($2m)
For fillies and mares, three-year-olds and upwards.

1. Azeri (ME Smith) 13-8f
2. Farda Amiga (P Day) 8-1
3. Imperial Gesture (J Bailey) 4-1

Jockey Mike Smith's ploy of bringing Azeri into the lead from the start paid off as the filly recorded a comfortable win in the Distaff.

Azeri was pushed all the way by Imperial Gesture but pulled well clear in the home straight for a four-and-a-half length win.

The win helped Laura de Seroux become only the second woman to train a Breeders' Cup winner.

Farda Amiga edged out Imperial Gesture for second place.
