Almushahar wins Champagne Stakes
Frankie Dettori and Almushahar win the Champagne Stakes at Doncaster
Almushahar was a convincing winner
Odds on favourite Almushahar stormed home to a comfortable win in the Group Two Rothmans Royals Champagne Stakes on the third day of the St Leger meeting at Doncaster.

Frankie Dettori's mount, the 8-11 favourite, made it a third straight win in the race for trainer David Loder, who previously enjoyed success with Noverre and Dubai Destination.

Almushahar beat St Pancras (25-1) by one and a quarter lengths with Wizard of Noz (10-1) in third.

Hilbre Island, Garros and St Pancras took on the early pace in the seven furlong sprint.

But as the field panned out across the track going into the last two furlongs, Dettori hit the front and was never in trouble.

Loder said of the Silver Hawk colt: "I think he a very exciting horse and he gives you that sort of Dubai Millennium feel.

"Like Dubai Millennium he's got the pedigree to back it up.

"I have not got any horse that can live with him at home."
