Ireland defeated Malaysia 2-1 in the final match of their four-game series in Dublin, their first win of the week.

Muhammad Razie gave Malaysia an eighth minute lead but goals from Timmy Cockram in the 61st and 70th minutes ensured victory for the Irish men.

Ireland won one, drew one and lost two of their fixtures.

The Irish squad will have little time to rest as they prepare to head to Paris on Tuesday for a five-nation tournament.

Ireland were beaten 3-2 by Malaysia in the third match of the four-game series in Dublin.

Baljit Singh put Malaysia ahead and good Irish defending prevent further goals although Alan Sothern went close for the home side before half-time.

Malaysia doubled their advantage arly in the second half but goals by Timmy Cockram and Sothern levelled the game.

A draw seemed set but Malaysia were awarded a controversial penalty corner which Hafifihafiz netted.

The teams drew 3-3 on Wednesday and the visitors earned a 4-2 win on Friday.
