Stourport men's hockey club recorded an emphatic 4-1 win over second-placed Whitchurch to pull away from the Conference West relegation places. Despite having a lot of possession in the first-half, Stourport went in a goal down through Rhys Gowman. The second-half was a different story, as the Worcestershire club levelled on 52 minutes through Dave Westhead. Andrew Langlands then scored twice in two minutes before Phil Lashford rounded off a convincing win. Cardiff-based Whitchurch had wanted the game called off as four of their players were on international duty with Wales in a World Cup qualifying tournament in New Zealand. But the league ordered them to play the match with Stourport taking full advantage to move two points clear of the bottom. Stourport face bottom club Plymouth Marjon next, on Sunday 15 November (1230 GMT).
