Ireland lost to Poland on sudden-death penalty strokes after drawing 3-3 after extra-time in the Champions Challenge II final at UCD in Dublin. Michael Watt scored two goals for Ireland and John Jermyn one while Marcin Strykowski grabbed a double for Poland and Dariusz Rachwalski one. The game ended 3-3 at full-time and the score was the same after extra-time. The sides were deadlocked at four all in sudden-death penalty strokes when Poland scored and Ireland missed. Ireland had reached the final by beating Malaysia 2-1 at the semi-final stage.
