City of Liverpool gymnast Jennifer Pinches has hailed the influence of club mate Beth Tweddle as she targets the 2012 London Olympics. Pinches, 15, British champion in the floor exercise, claims Tweddle's experience is invaluable. "Beth's a great gymnast," she told BBC Radio Merseyside. "She knows what you're going through as she's been there and done it. "2012 is my ultimate goal and what I'm working towards." Pinches is now preparing for the European Youth Olympics in Finland, where she'll be competing in the floor, vault, bars and beam. She aims to build on recent success, both in this country and Australia. "It puts a little more pressure on me as I've done okay in the other competitions," Pinches continued. "But at the same time it gives me confidence that I can do my best. If I can do my routines okay, and not fall off, I should be in with a good chance." Jennifer, who studies in Macclesfield, says the support of her school has been vital. She continued: "They're very accommodating, I have teachers who can collect work for me and e-mail me work when I'm abroad in competitions, and my friends are all very good." Pinches hopes to continue her development and compete at the London Olympics. "Hopefully if I keep going one step at at time at the current level and keep building up my routines then hopefully I'll get there," she added.
