Defending champions the United States won silver with Russia taking bronze after the eight-team final.
It was the second gold for China in as many events after their men defended their team title on Tuesday night.
The Chinese team of Pang Panpan, Cheng Fei, Zhang Nan, Zhou Zhuoru, He Ning and Li Ya scored 182.200 points.
They finished 0.850 ahead of the United States who achieved 181.350 with Russia scoring 177.325.
Olympic champions Romania finished fourth with 175.450
