Germany will be stripped of the Olympic team showjumping gold medal following the disqualification of Goldfever and rider Ludger Beerbaum for doping.
The International Equestrian Federation (FEI) confirmed its decision, which means that the USA take gold, with Sweden in second and Germany third.
"The judicial committee has agreed that Goldfever must be disqualified," said an FEI statement.
Germany also lost team gold in eventing after a Great Britain appeal.
It emerged that ointment containing the banned substance Betamethasone was used to treat Goldfever's eczema before the Athens Games.
And although independent vets said there would have been no impact on the horse's performance, the FEI opted to apply the rules of strict liability.
