Jersey's Harry Smale has retired from gymnastics after an illustrious career which saw him win numerous medals.

The 19-year-old, who started his career with the Jersey Special Gymnastics Club 11 years ago, went on to represent Great Britain on the world stage.

Smale was a gold medal winning member of Team GB at the 2009 Special Olympics in Leicester.

He represented Great Britain with the British Gymnastics Disabilities squad in Grand Canaria and Rome.

Back in 2007, Smale, who has Downs Syndrome, was given a Special Merit award by the Jersey Sports Association for the Disabled in recognition of his achievements in gymnastics.

The end of Smale's career was marked by Jersey Special Gymnastic's Club, with a presentation to acknowledge his outstanding contribution to the sport.
