British judo player Darren Kail has qualified for the Athens Paralympics after a solid display at the IBSA Championships for blind athletes in Quebec.
Competing in the 66kg category, the B2 athlete finished in the top six to book his trip to Greece.
There was no luck in the same category for compatriot Darren Harris (B1), who came within seven seconds of winning his fight only to be out-manoeuvred late on.
Fellow Brit Ben Quilter (B3) also lost in the first round of the 60kg category.
In the athletics, there were good performances by Andy Curtis (B1) in the men's 100m and Tracey Hinton in the women's 400m, with both reaching the semi-finals.
In the women's discus, Claire Williams (B2), competing in her first major international championship, exceeded all expectations by finishing seventh with a throw of 32.16m.
The GB goalball team suffered a losing start to their campaign, going down 7-3 to a very strong USA team and will hope for better against Australia in their next match.
