Phil Taylor became the World Matchplay champion for the 10th time after a dominant display in the final against Terry Jenkins in Blackpool on Sunday.

The world number one won 18-4, a record margin of victory in a major PDC final, to win his 52nd televised title.

Taylor told BBC Radio Stoke: "I'm over the moon to have won, but I'm a bit disappointed for Terry.

"There were a few boos because the crowd paid their money and they wanted more of a final, but it didn't happen."

Taylor added: "I love winning. You can't beat the feeling. That's what I do, and I love it.

"I remember working for £74 a week, and I've just won an amount that I would have had to work a lifetime for, but it's not all about the money.

"It's my job and I love what I do, so I'll be back on the practice board tomorrow."

Despite dominating the tournament with an unprecedented average of just over 106, Taylor believes he can raise the bar even higher.

"I think I can pick up my average by another ten points. It's all about concentration. You can't control the crowd sometimes, but they can keep whistling and keep shouting because they won't put me off. They'll only put the other player off."

The Stoke-on-Trent player has won every PDC televised event in 2009, bar the Premier League, in which he was beaten in the last four by Mervyn King.

The 48-year-old will also be the defending champion at the next major event, the World Grand Prix in Dublin, which takes place in October.
