Canada's John Part hit top form to beat Dutchman Raymond van Barneveld 6-3 and win the Las Legas Desert Classic title.
Part, without a PDC major triumph since beating Phil Taylor in the 2003 world final, lost the first set.
Part, 40, levelled with a 101 checkout and he won the next two sets by edging the deciding leg in both.
Van Barneveld, who beat Taylor in the semi-finals, reduced the deficit to one set before Part took control and won the next three to secure his victory.
"I'd like to thank all the people who have supported me this week," said Part, who had to qualify for the main draw after slipping out of the world's top 12.
"I had the terrific honour of being world champion in 2003, beating Phil Taylor, and I didn't think there was anything near that could follow it up.
"But to beat a four-time world champion here in Vegas sure comes close, if
not as good."
Van Barneveld said: "I think I played my worst game of the week after playing well to get to the final."
