Team Sky have appointed former American professional Bobby Julich as their race coach for the 2011 season.

Julich, who was third in the 1998 Tour de France and won Olympic individual time-trial bronze in 2004, rode with Team CSC until his retirement in 2008.

The 38-year-old said: "I hope that my experience will help this team progress and reach its goals for the future."

Last week, Team Sky added another rider to their ranks in the form of former world time-trial winner Michael Rogers.

Australian Rogers, 30, is likely to spearhead Sky's Tour de France challenge with Norway's Edvald Boasson Hagen and Briton Bradley Wiggins.
