Kennaugh on pace in first European stage race of 2010

Peter Kennaugh
Kennaugh made his ProTour debut at Sunday's GP Cycliste la Marseillaise

Isle of Man cyclist Peter Kennaugh finished the first European stage race of the season, the Etoile de Bessèges, in the main pack on Wednesday.

The stage turned into a bunch sprint after a three-man breakaway was reeled in with around three kilometres to go.

The Team Sky rider crossed the line in 90th position as all but two riders in the field shared the same time.

The 146km stage from Aigues Mortes to Le Grau du Roi was won by Vacansoleil sprinter Borut Bozic.

The race concludes on Sunday.
