Hushovd narrowly beat Cavendish to the Green Jersey at the Tour de France

Manxman Mark Cavendish finished stage three of the Tour of Missouri fifth as Norwegian rival Thor Hushovd took the win and the leader's jersey.

After a day of hard climbs the Norwegian edged out Argentine Juan Jose Haedo in a chaotic sprint finish.

The result sees the Norwegian take over the overall leaders jersey and the sprint jersey from Cavendish.

The 23-year-old Manxman will start the 175.7km fourth stage wearing the Best Young Rider jersey.

Cavendish's Colombia HTC team mate and Australian national time trial champion Michael Rogers is ninth.
