Griffin wins round four of Series

Gary Mazzone
Gary Mazzone finished in tenth place in the senior race

Dave Griffin was first across the line in round four of the Manx Mountain Bike Club's Winter Handicap Series held in South Barrule Plantation on Sunday.

Griffin was hotly pursued by Richi Cryer and Ronan O'Toole but it was Paul Kneen in fourth who ranked first after the handicap was applied.

Sixth-placed Julian Corlett, who designed the course, was ranked second.

Meanwhile the winner of the ladies' race was Alicia Corlett, who came home four seconds ahead of Jo Hawkins.

In the junior event Leon Mazzone was not effected by the icy conditions and took the win from Jake Kelly and Matthew Bostock, with Sophie Black winning the girls' race.

In the boys' race Joseph Haddock took a convincing lead and won by almost half a minute over Matthew Draper.
