Rabobank sprint specialist Oscar Freire has pulled out of the Tour of Spain because of a neck injury.
The 30-year-old Spaniard, who won two stages on this year's Tour de France, said the injury would prevent him from competing at the desired level.
"It's a problem I've had since the Tour de France and the pains I get make me feel dizzy," said Freire, who won the Vattenfall Cyclassics in July.
The Tour of Spain starts in Malaga on Saturday and ends on 17 September.
Freire hopes to recover in time to challenge for a record fourth road race world crown in Salzburg in September.
