Basso agrees to new CSC contract

Basso is 2 mins, 46secs behind Armstrong in the standings

Tour de France contender Ivan Basso has ended speculation about his future by signing a new two-year contract with the Danish CSC team.
The 27-year-old Italian is Lance Armstrong's closest rival for the yellow jersey this year after finishing third in last year's race.
CSC, run by former race winner Bjarne Riis, used Monday's rest day to reveal Basso's new deal, extended until 2008.
Basso is considered a likely Tour winner after Armstrong's retirement.
