An initial autopsy has revealed that Italian cyclist Alessio Galletti, 37, died of a heart attack in a race in northern Spain on Wednesday.
The former Giro d'Italia rider, who rode for team Naturino-Sapore di Mare, passed out while riding up to the top of Alto de La Manzaneda.
A final analysis is expected in about three months time following more tests.
Galletti turned pro in 1994 and won the 2003 Fred Mengoni Grand Prix and a stage on the 2001 Tour Down Under.
