Ullrich rubbishes critics

Ullrich believes his training regime will pay-off
|
Jan Ullrich has rejected claims he has been carrying too much weight in the early months of the season.
Five-time Tour de France winner Eddy Merckx labelled the German rider "too heavy" after recent poor displays.
But Ullrich told the Bild am Sonntag newspaper: "The thing about my weight is rubbish. I trained a lot in the winter and built up muscle mass."
He added: "This additional strength will help me to cope with the demands of the Tour and overcome them."
