The Olympic mountain bike competition will be held in the foothills of Mount Parnitha, to the north of Athens and close to the city centre.

Forest roads, paths and technical rocky sections make up the 6.1km course.

A test event was held last October and Belgians Filip Meirhaeghe and Paulissen Roel gave thier approval after trying out the course in February.

The bike venue is also one of the closest to the Olympic Village, a few kilometres to the east.
