Click refresh for updates. All times in BST. 1556: David Millar has finally crossed the line losing seven minutes. 1551: Jalabert, the long-time leader, finally crosses the line 1m47s back. 1549: Armstrong goes for the line within sight of the line and takes the stage victory ahead of Beloki in second and Heras in third. It is enough to comfortably take the yellow jersey. 1548: Heras is looking keen to make a break. 1545: Armstrong, Heras and Beloki cross the one kilometre to go mark. Gonzalez de Galdeano slips even further back as does Jalabert. 1542: The trio of Beloki, Armstrong and Heras pass the two-kilometre remaining barrier. They are 1m04s ahead of Gonzalez de Galdeano. 1540: Jalabert fails to keep up with them. Heras' pace is too much. Armstrong looks strong and probably has another attack within him. They have pulled nearly a minute clear of yellow jersey wearer Gonzalez de Galdeano. 1539: Jalabert's attempts for victory come to an end. He is caught by Heras, Armstrong and Beloki. Jalabert is staying with them for the time being. 1537: Four kilometres remain and Jalabert's chances look over. He is just half-a-second clear. 1534: Roberto Heras is upping the tempo. It causes Sevilla to drop and everyone else in the field. He and Armstrong are now 1m15s behind. Beloki is the only rider left with them 1532: Igor Gonzalez de Galdeano has been left behind. Armstrong is closing in on Jalabert and has Oscar Sevilla with him. Santiago Botero also looks to be in trouble. 1529: Armstrong still looks very strong on the road but so does Jalabert. But the Frenchman is being reeled in. He is just two minutes clear. 1526: Laurent Lefevre has launched an attack and has a bit of distance ahead of the peloton, while at the back early leader David Etxebarria is struggling. Dario Frigo and Bobby Julich also look pained. 1520: Ten kilometres remain of stage 11 with Jalabert three minutes in front. The field is once more being stretched out. David Millar is among those drifting back and looks in trouble. 1516: All the riders are out of the saddle as they hit the bottom of the climb. The US Postal riders are starting the chase. 1510: Despite the searing heat, Jalabert has stretched his lead to 3m26s and there are now only 13 kilometres left. There is still a very steep climb to go.
1500: Jalabert's lead is at 3m15s with 20 kilometres to go. 1454: Jalabert takes the intermediate sprint and remarkably Zabel, somehow in the main pack, takes second spot and will retake the green jersey at the end of the day. 1447:There is still a three-minute gap between Jalabert and the peloton ahead of the final climb. 1442: Armstrong's former team-mate Kevin Livingstone has punctured but has since meandered his way back. 1434: US Postal are still the only riders at the peloton's head. There are 37 kilometres remaining. 1428: McEwen has caught up a massive amount of time on the flat. He and his group are just three minutes behind Jalabert's chasers. Jalabert is still 3m10s in the lead. 1423: Beloki is back in the peloton. 1419: Joseba Beloki has just changed his bike and fallen off the pace. His two team-mates are working to get him back involved. 1416: McGee has been badly cut up by his accident. He has just finished receiving lengthy medical attention from the race doctor. 1409: Sandstod reduces the number of riders in the Tour to 180 after crashing out on the Col du Soulor. He is now sitting in the ambulance and his race is over. 1404: The US Postal riders are at the front of the chasing pack along the flat part of the route. Jalabert is three-and-a-half-minutes clear.
1350: Etxebarria has given up the chase now and is waiting for the overall leaders to catch him. 1347: Both Voigt and McGee are back in action but the Australian has dropped into the main pack now. Jalabert leads that pack by three minutes. 1340: Jens Voigt has crashed on the descent. McGee, who had joined Etxebarria and was 1m30s behind Jalabert, has also crashed. 1333: Oscar Sevilla has just punctured but quickly forces his way back into the race and joins the main chasing pack. 1331: McEwen finally makes it over the Col d'Aubisque, almost 10 minutes behind Jalabert. 1321: Jalabert has finally made it over the climb. He wraps up and prepares for the descent. Etxebarria follows 1m17s back. Patrice Halgand leads the chasing pack over at 2m10s ahead of Brad McGee and Richard Virenque.
1314: Jalabert now leads Etxebarria by 45 seconds and a group of 40 riders, including Armstrong and Igor Gonzalez de Galdeano, by 2m27s. 1303: The field is scattered across the mountain now. Jalabert has a solo lead - Etxebarria could not keep up with his pace. Abraham Olano is among the top names to have fallen away from the main chasing pack. 1255: Cuesta has been dropped now. Etxebarria and Jalabert lead alone. McEwen, the green jersey, has fallen away from the peloton. 1245: Already the toughest mountain of the Tour to date is taking its toll. Jaan Kirsipuu is among those dropped from the peloton. There are three riders out front: Jalabert, Etxebarria and Cuesta.
1239: The leaders are on to the "without category" climb of the Col d'Aubisque. The US Postal team have moved to the front to chase the leading nine down. 1229: Magnien has been caught by the chasing pack, including Jalabert. There are now nine riders 1m50s clear of the peloton. 1221: Magnien wins the first climb of the day, ahead of Inigo Cuesta and David Etxebarria. Magnien is still ahead by himself, being chased by Cuesta, Etxebarria and Laszlo Bodrogi. Jalabert has broken from the peloton and caught Magnien's chasers. 1214: Oscar Sevilla, one of the Tour's leading climbers, pulls away but is quickly tracked down by the US Postal riders. Emmanuel Magnien is the solo leader and has moved on to the first climb of the day. 1208: The riders are all virtually reunited again before half a dozen attacks head off and are then reeled in. Robbie McEwen takes his turn to leap off the front of the peloton. 1157: A massive turn in pace decimates the leading pack. Only six remain out front. Jalabert is still there with Franck Renier, Vicente Garcia Acosta, Santiago Blanco, Benoit Joachim and Ludovic Turpin. They are 100m clear of another chasing group. 1149: Laurent Jalabert opts to have a go from the front of the peloton. He takes another nine riders with him and his break has stretched the chasing pack out. 1146: That fizzles out as the peloton rapidly tracks them down. 1141: Finally the first attack comes, from six breakaway riders including Michael Sandstod and Jacky Durand. 1128: Racing is officially under way.
