Merrien fought back having lost every end in the second set

Alison Merrien secured the World Indoor Bowls Championships ladies' singles title at the third attempt in Norfolk on Thursday. The Guernsey bowls player beat Australian Karen Murphy 2-1 in the tie-break after being level at one set all. Merrien dominated the first set, winning 9-5, before collapsing to an 11-0 loss in the second. It is her second title of the tournament after winning the mixed pairs championship with Simon Skelton. Merrien, who had lost in the last two finals, fought back from 1-0 down in the tie-break.
